Rob Isbitts has spent the past 35 years as an investment strategist, investment advisor, investment researcher, thought-leader and journalist. He offers perspective on investment strategy for financial advisors and investors. In his writing, he aims to bust common investment myths and help people make sense of today's chaotic markets, applying his decades of hands-on experience, not just theory or consensus thinking.
Rob has managed money for investors and financial advisors through multiple bull and bear market cycles. He built and sold a successful advisory practice and installed a long-term succession team for that practice. He creates innovative investment strategies that represent an alternative to outdated, overhyped traditional approaches. He is a three-time mutual fund manager and creator of separately managed accounts and investment indexes.
Rob is a senior contributor to Forbes.com, a contributor to U.S. News &World Report and has written regularly for TheStreet, MarketWatch and RIA Biz. Rob has written three books on investing, including the 2020 e-book "The Hedged Investing Handbook."
In 2021, Rob and his team at Sungarden Investment Management debuted ETFPortfolios.com, an investment advisory service for financial advisors and self-directed investors, available on a flat-fee or assets-under-management basis. ETFPortfolios.com opens up Rob's 30-plus years of investment strategy experience to clients and investors, so they can focus on investment process and strategy instead of stock tips and tired asset allocation techniques. He and his team develop innovative investment strategies that fill a significant gap that exists between what investors truly want and what Wall Street typically provides.
Rob resides in South Florida with his wife Dana. They have three adult children. Rob grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, graduated from University at Albany–SUNY and earned an MBA from Rutgers University.
